Why did I do it?

You may be wondering why I decided to do Smart Lipo to begin with. From a very young age, I battled with my weight. By the time I was 26, I weighed 243 pounds. One day, I saw a picture of myself from my brother’s 30th Birthday and I started hysterically crying. I’d never really seen myself before that moment – seen just how big I’d become. Over the course of the next year, I lost 80 pounds. What I didn’t lose was an upside down shaped heart of skin on my stomach. I asked my family doctor if I would be able to get rid of it through exercise, and he told me that my stomach muscles were very well developed underneath but that it was mostly just sagging skin that without surgery would never go away.
Imagine how I felt – knowing that I’d worked so hard to lose the weight and this was the best I was going to look. Don’t think I didn’t continue to try for four years to do everything I could to lose what was left. I started running 20+ miles per week. I go to the gym five times a week and lift weights. But nothing helped.
I decided I was going to get a tummy tuck. I went for a consultation and the doctor told me that even though I was going to lose the skin on my stomach, the $8,000 procedure would do nothing for the fat on my back or hips. I’d also have a very big scar from hip bone to hip bone. Oh, and my belly button would no longer be my own, but one created by the surgeon.
Then one day I got a small magazine in the mail that promoted new local businesses. There was an article in there about an office that had opened up that did Smart Lipo. There were before and after pictures with women who had much more severe skin issues that looked amazing afterwards. I started looking into it and found that it actually helped with skin tightening. So – I made an appointment for my free consultation. After I saw all of the before and after pictures, I was convinced that this was the best option for me!
I decided not only to do my abdomen (which included hips and lower back for $4,200) but also my arms and upper back (which cost $3,800). For the price of doing a tummy tuck, I was going to have my entire upper body addressed.
Makes sense, right?

  1. Hi there, I was going through your blog, I am very happy for that your results turned out so well. I did laser lipo 2 years ago, mine did not turn out as well as yours. I even went back for him to fix it, and he made more of a mess. My friend is going for Vaser in a few days, I am considering it, but still not sure. But well done with your results.

  2. I'm very sorry to hear that you're not happy with your results. Although my body is far from perfect, I'm still very happy that I made the choice to do this. How did your friend like the Vaser? I tried the Vaser Shape on my thighs before deciding to have SmartLipo done but it did nothing for me.

Smart Lipo - Inner Thighs - Day 3

Monday, I had my upper stomach and back done.  On Wednesday, I went back to have my inner thighs done.  The pain was minimal in comparison to what I had experienced on Monday.  That could also be due to the fact that my body was still in shock. The procedure was pretty quick.  The doctor decided to do CO2 Laser Resurfacing on the outside of my thighs where I had the most excess skin.  I was beyond surprised when she brought it up.  I knew what it cost me to have the stretch marks done on my stomach and here she was going to do both of my thighs - for nothing?!?! The one thing that means the most to me about my experience with Dr. Kaufman, is that she is a perfectionist.  Yes, she has made a good amount of money off of me, but at the same time, she could easily be in it just for the money and suggest such a service and then say, well, that will be an extra $1,000.  They are so incredibly good to me at that office!  I absolutely love them! ...

After Pictures Update

I am truly sorry that I haven't posted in a while. Not a whole lot has changed in terms of my body as of late. Well, that's not entirely true. I've been working on my tan - and let's be honest, everything looks better tan! I've also put on a few pounds. I'm not sure if it's due to the stress at work or the sheer amounts of alcohol I've consumed as a result of that stress. Either way - I'm up to 187lbs, which is clearly not where I want to be. I've decided it's time to redirect my energy and start using exercise as an outlet instead of alcohol. It's not an excuse, but some days I just want to go out with friends and vent about all the things that are stressing me out - and as a society, what do we do to be social - either go to a bar for drinks or a restaurant for food. I did get my best friend to join the gym but that presented another problem - too much talking and not enough working out. Like with everything in life, it's ...

My Body - Today

I'm sorry I haven't updated pictures in a while.  Not a whole lot has changed other than the fact that I started working out again and went from 165lbs at the time of the procedure to 180lbs today.  I'm still in my size 8 pants but I can feel the difference.  My stomach feels swollen all the time for the extra weight.  No one else can tell because I still wear the body garment but I have got to do something to lose at least 10 lbs.  I'm extremely stressed out right now in my home life which I think is a driving factor, but come the 1st I'm moving so fingers crossed, life will improve tremendously.  Now this picture below, is with the flash on so it looks different than the one directly beneath it even though they were taken seconds apart.  This is what I mean when I talk about dimples on my stomach or bumpy looking.  It's not flat and smooth.  Unfortunately, you never know how the skin is going to reattach itself to the muscle. ...
