The Days Following

Pain

The day of the procedure, the pain isn’t that bad.  Mostly because all the numbing hasn’t left your body yet.   The second day, it got worse.  In order to sleep, I had to take a pain killer and two sleeping pills.  It does get better after 3-4 days.  I think my pain may have been a little worse having three procedures done within 6 days of each other.  Having the abdomen done and the back done, made it a little difficult to sleep since both sides of your body are in pain.  It’s just something to consider.

The Rollercoaster of Emotions

They told me that most people have these moments where they feel like the look worse after the procedure than before it.  I thought this was ridiculous.  Well … Here it is, three weeks since I had my abdomen done and I want to cry.  The crater is either set farther back or the pudge is sticking out farther out.  I’m so upset.  I’m trying to remind myself that the lymphatic tissue massage woman told me that my stomach still has a lot of fluid in it and the last place it leaves is around the belly button, but it’s very little comfort right now!

I’m pretty sure that my father, my boyfriend, my boss and my best friend are all over my emotional rollercoaster of insecurities.  I wasn’t prepared for how insecure I’d become or how focused I would be on every little imperfection.

At my five week follow up appointment, the doctor was optimistic that once I got back into working out, the imperfections would get better.  I still have a lot of fluid around my hips and bellybutton.  Time will tell .. I’ll keep you posted :)

Lymphatic Drainage Massage Appointment 2

I went again today for another lymphatic drainage massage.  The massage therapist told me that I had a lot of fluid congestion in my hips.  I also have a crease right above my pubic area that just seems to be where my skin naturally folds when I sit down.  It's so deep that when I lay flat all night long, it's still hasn't worked itself back to normal by the next morning.  She spent a lot of time cupping that area, drawing the fluid to the top to pull out the skin. Today's appointment was pretty painful, I'm not going to lie.  But it's also very obvious that I still have a lot of swelling and fluid in the tissue.  It's been two weeks since I had the appointment.  It usually takes about 3-4 weeks for the swelling and fluid to finally dissipate.  One interesting thing that she told me was that our skin will take on the shape of things.  This is why it's important for us to wear a variety of clothing, particularly panties.  If you always wear the same p

3-Week Post Procedure Before and After Pictures

Here are my before and after pictures from 3 weeks after the procedure.  Not a whole lot of change in the last two weeks.  Just like the first time.  All the major changes happen in the first two days.  If I would have thought about it, I could have pulled my belly button apart to ensure it looked more normal.  The skin would have adhered accordingly, but instead, I'm stuck with this one.  But I'm ok with it :) I slept without the garment on for the first time last night.  It was nice.  I'm still wearing it during the day while I'm at work as I do a lot of sitting.  I'm still really happy with my decision to buy maternity pants.  I think they've really helped with the smooth healing of the skin.

My Body - Today

I'm sorry I haven't updated pictures in a while.  Not a whole lot has changed other than the fact that I started working out again and went from 165lbs at the time of the procedure to 180lbs today.  I'm still in my size 8 pants but I can feel the difference.  My stomach feels swollen all the time for the extra weight.  No one else can tell because I still wear the body garment but I have got to do something to lose at least 10 lbs.  I'm extremely stressed out right now in my home life which I think is a driving factor, but come the 1st I'm moving so fingers crossed, life will improve tremendously.  Now this picture below, is with the flash on so it looks different than the one directly beneath it even though they were taken seconds apart.  This is what I mean when I talk about dimples on my stomach or bumpy looking.  It's not flat and smooth.  Unfortunately, you never know how the skin is going to reattach itself to the muscle.  You can see that
